Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost in the Super Bowl Consider Amazon's Alexa as a Mind Reader in an advertisement.

In a humorous Super Bowl 2022 ad featuring a mind-reading Alexa, "Avengers" star Scarlett Johansson and her "Weekend Update" co-anchor spouse Colin Jost satirise their own relationship.

It turns out that having an Alexa that understands exactly what they're thinking — as they envision — isn't so fantastic.

Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost teamed up for a new commercial for Amazon's Alexa, which will air during the Super Bowl commercial breaks on Sunday.

As she gets downstairs to the living area, Jost says to Johansson, "Hey babe, check this out." "Alexa, it's time for the game."

The Amazon device works her magic by watching Prime Video football, closing the blinds, and chilling rosé.

"It's like she can read your mind," the pair exclaims in unison, as a succession of scenes depicting what life would be like if Alexa could genuinely read their minds play out.

It turns out that having an Alexa that understands exactly what they're thinking — as they envision — isn't so fantastic.

When Jost asks his wife what it's like for her to make out with a "gorgeous" guy in a movie, she says, "It's the worst." Alexa responds with the Fleetwood Mac song "Little Lies" from Amazon's music library.

On the opening day of a Johansson show he doesn't expect to like, Alexa reminds Jost — in front of his wife — to "fake your own death."

Then there's the morning when Alexa makes an announcement.

When Jost can't face Johansson when they wake up in bed, he uses "extra strength" mint mouthwash.

In the 2013 film "Her," directed by Spike Jonze, Johansson performed the Alexa-like voice of an artificial intelligence computer operating system that built a relationship with a sensitive loner played by Joaquin Phoenix.

The duo was "heavily involved" in crafting the humorous passages in the 90-second Alexa ad, according to Variety. Johansson has made several appearances on "Saturday Night Live," where Jost serves as a co-head writer.

The "Mind Reader" ad's expanded digital cut is 90 seconds long. The actual game day spot, however, will run for 60 seconds on Super Bowl broadcaster NBC.

The couple's first major commercial campaign together is the Alexa ad, but it's not their first time sharing the small screen. They met on the set of NBC's Saturday Night Live and have been married since since.
