Cheslie Kryst, an extra correspondent and former Miss USA, died at the age of 30.








Cheslie Corrinne Kryst (April 28, 1991 - January 30, 2022), Miss USA 2019, was an American television correspondent, model, and beauty pageant winner. 

She competed in the Miss Universe 2019 competition for the United States and placed in the top ten. 

Kryst worked as a correspondent for Extra from October 2019 until her death. She was a licenced attorney. 

She was nominated for two Daytime Emmy Awards for her work on Extra.

Cheslie Kryst, the Miss USA 2019 winner and a correspondent for the entertainment news show "Extra," died at the age of 30.

Kryst allegedly leaped from a Manhattan apartment building and was pronounced dead on the scene early Sunday morning, according to police. Her death was ruled a suicide by the medical examiner on Monday.

Kryst's body was discovered in front of the Orion building, a high-rise on West 42nd Street in midtown Manhattan, at around 7 a.m. Sunday, according to police.

Her family sent a statement on Sunday confirming her death.

"We share the sadness and profound sorrow of our beloved Cheslie's demise," the statement said.

 "Her enormous light, with its beauty and strength, inspired others all around the world." She was a woman who cared, loved, laughed, and shone. Cheslie represented love and served others, whether it was via her work as a social justice attorney or as Miss USA. 

and is an EXTRA host. But, most significantly, as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor, and coworker, we are confident that her legacy will endure.


Kryst also became a correspondent for Extra and was nominated for two Daytime Emmy Awards. Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, and Miss America are all black — a first in pageant history.

Extra paid tribute to the former Miss USA winner and said, "our hearts are broken," in response to the news of her passing.

Extra noted on their Instagram page, "Cheslie was not just an important component of our show, she was a beloved part of our 'Extra' family and touched the entire workforce." "We send our heartfelt condolences to her entire family and friends."
